Over Wyresdale Parish Council

Over Wyresdale is situated on the western boundary of the Forest of Bowland, Lancashire, AONB. The Parish lies, to a significant extent, within the environs of the Grosvenor Estate, Abbeystead.


Within the Parish boundary there are also related farming, small businesses, residential interests and concerns.

Various rights of way, wayleaves,  utility networks and relevant agencies present are appropriately identified.


In common with other English Parish Councils', Over Wyresdale Parish Council is a civil local authority, representing the first tier of local government.

It is an elected corporate body, has variable tax raising powers, and holds responsibility for the designated civil parish area.


In this capacity English Parish Councils' serve, in total, around 16 million people.












Over Wyresdale's most senior citizens plant a commemorative evergreen oak

sapling celebrating the life of the late Queen Elizabeth II.
